Make Family Therapy a Means to Create Peace in a Family Conflict
Families can be viewed as a group composed of members who are learning how to grow in ways of interacting with each other and to the whole world. In the process of growing up and living with each other, family conflict sometimes would arise due to uncontrollable situations among themselves, and this is when family therapy would come in to assist the situation.
Through family therapy, it would appear that there is something new that is developing within the family that signifies family growth and would sometimes be viewed as a difference. Certain conditions may be happening like a member who is beginning to be irritable and super sensitive, or somebody feeling left out, or someone is in trouble at school for something , and so on. Or maybe two members in the family are always getting into an argument with each other, or another one is disturbing peace or is a bothersome, etc.
The reasons why the disturber is doing such things are important therefore to be known. It is a fact that people do not act with no reasons at all, meaning, there must be something that they desperately need to attain or know that made them act that way, and if they are not satisfied, then they feel hurt and frustrated.
With all these kinds of examples of family conflicts, there is now a need to input something new like family therapy to solve this concern.
The form of psychotherapy that aims to solve family issues is called family therapy and this is done through family counselling. In the technique of family therapy treatment, multiple or all members of the family will have to participate since the family is considered a one unit. During the therapy, emphasis is placed on the members who are directly involved in the problem. A family therapists would usually handle issues in a family like marriage, divorce, children-parent relationships, family conflicts, depression, addictions and other similar family concerns. Be aware that it is family relationships and interaction will be the focus of family therapy. Instead of pinpointing the cause of the conflict, the family therapist will look at the solution of the issue by emphasizing the strength of the family as a whole.
In order to resolve conflicts, a family therapist will help family members by teaching effective communication and aim to minimize gaps between each member. The conduct of the family members will be analyzed and will be advised for necessary changes of their conducts, while providing information as to the how and why of their behaviours.
The family therapist will have to conduct regular sessions so that there is importance and willingness among members, to resolve their issues.
